Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the July 3, 2007 meeting:

Background History.  On June 19^th the City Commission approved the following improvements to be completed:

Sidewalks:

North side of 9^th Street from Sunset Drive to Iowa Street;

South side of  6^th Street from Rockledge Road to Schwarz Road;

South side of Trail Road from Lawrence Avenue to Rockfence Place

Traffic Calming Devices:

          Speed cushions on Lawrence Avenue between 9^th Street and Harvard Road;

          Pedestrian crossing on Louisiana Street between 18^th and 19^th Street;

          Traffic diverter on 18^th Street between Maine Street and Missouri Street

Project Status. 

1. Gaps exist in the sidewalk on 4^th Street between Maine and Missouri.  The hospital expansion would make a sidewalk very beneficial in this area. This section was not discussed at the June 19 City Commission meeting, however there should be sufficient funds to complete this section as well.

2. G.O. Bonds will be issued for the sidewalk and traffic calming improvements.  Ordinance 8123 will add/establish 4^th Street, between Maine Street and McDonald Drive, and 18^th Street, between Naismith Drive and Louisiana Street, as trafficway connectors.

3. Pending approval and publication of Ordinance 8123 a Resolution will be presented to the City Commission authorizing the issuance of G.O. bonds.

Action Request.  Staff recommends approval of Ordinance 8123.
