Please include the following item on the consent agenda for the June 19, 2007 City Commission meeting.
Authorize the City Manager to enter into an Engineering Services Agreement with BG Consultants in the amount of $22,000.00 for services related to waterline relocation at 19th Street from Alabama Street to Tennessee Street in conjunction with the street improvements.
Project Description - The project involves waterline design to replace approximately 1400 linear feet of 8” diameter transite pipe with 16” ductile iron; abandon approximately 650 linear feet of 8” waterline; and connect to existing water line. The relocation of the water line is required and will be designed in conjunction with the current street improvements of 19th Street from Alabama Street to Tennessee Street. The street project is a Public Works project being designed by BG Consultants. The Utility Department staff has selected the same consultant to design the waterline relocation to ensure proper coordination between the two projects and to take advantage of the information / survey that has been established by BG Consultants.
Project History / Status –
November 23, 2004: The city commission passed Resolution 6571 authorizing the issuance of general obligation bonds for a principal maximum amount of $250,000.00.
January 18, 2005: The city commission approves a contract with BG Consultants in the amount of $37,180.08 to perform a Feasibility Study and report.
February 2006: Feasibility Study completed and report submitted to the City.
April 2006: The City Commission added this project to the 5-year Plan with KDOT.
April 2007: The City received seven responses to the Request for Qualifications.
May 2007: After a through review of the Qualification Statements, staff interviewed three consulting firms and selected BG Consultants to provide Engineering Services for this project.
June 5, 2006: The City Commission authorized the City Manager to enter into an Engineering contract with BG Consultants for completion of plans and specifications for the geometric improvements of 19th Street (from Ohio Street to Alabama Street).
Project Funding - This project will be funded from the 2007 Utility Department Capital Improvement Project non-bonded construction fund.
Commission Action – Authorize the City Manager to enter into an Engineering Services Agreement with BG Consultants in the amount of $22,000.00 for services related to waterline relocation on 19th Street from Alabama Street to Tennessee Street.
