Dear Mr. Corliss:

            In the next two to three weeks, a Westar Energy contractor will begin a transmission line clearance project in West Lawrence.  This transmission line runs adjacent to Kasold, from Peterson to K-10.  

Key Facts

• Westar has the right to trim and remove all trees that may interfere with the safe operation of the transmission line
• Wright Tree Service, Westar’s contractor, will make personal contact with each affected resident landowner, or leave a number for the landowner to call for more information
• Landowners will be given the opportunity to transplant trees, if the tree can be safely moved in a reasonable amount of time
• Westar expects the project to last 2-3 months, unless interrupted by weather or other factors
• Short growth vegetation (a mature height of less than 14 feet) will not be removed
• Grasses and short bushes will not be removed
