Set a bid date of June 5, 2007 for Kaw Water Supply Low Service Pump Station No. 2 Improvements (Bid Number B07038)
Project Description
The 2003 Master Plan identified several projects for the Kaw Water Treatment Plant. The required projects include improvements to the water supply facilities (intake system and pumping units) as well as the transmission lines leaving the water treatment plant.
Project Status/Details
On January 24, 2006 the City Commission authorized an Engineering Services Agreement with Burns & McDonnell/PEC for the evaluation of the 2003 Water Master Plan projects identified for the intake, raw water pumping and finished water transmission mains at the Kaw Water Treatment Plant.
Based on the results of the evaluation of the raw water pumping system, staff recommended moving forward with the design of the proposed improvements to increase the firm capacity of Low Service Pump Station No.2. On November 28, 2006 the City Commission authorized a supplemental agreement to the Engineering Services Contract with Burns & McDonnell for final design and construction phase engineering services.
Burns & McDonnell has completed the design work related to the Kaw Water Treatment Plant Low Service Pump Station No.2 Improvements. The designed improvements provide for increased firm pumping capacity of the raw water supply to 17.5 mgd at low river elevations (the rated capacity of the treatment plant). The current firm pumping capacity at low river conditions is 15.0 MGD.
