Sidewalk on N. Michigan Street Bridge

Reconstruction by KTA

 

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the May 1, 2007 meeting:

Project DescriptionAddition of a 6’ sidewalk on the west side of the N. Michigan Street Bridge.

Project History.  The KTA will be replacing/reconstructing the N. Michigan Street Bridge.  On March 28, 2006 the City Commission chose to participate with KTA in the cost of adding the sidewalk.

Project Status.  The KTA will begin bridge construction in May 2007.  BRB Construction was low bidder.  The city’s cost will be $200,000 (including a 5% contingency).  The Reimbursement Agreement authorizes the KTA to proceed with construction with the city agreeing to pay for construction of the sidewalk.  The city and KTA will have a final accounting to settle any changes at the end of the construction.

 

Project Funding.  This project is in the CIP for 2007.  In August 2006 the City Commission authorized the issuance of General Obligation Bonds in the amount of $200,000 (Resolution 6670) for this project. 

 

Action Request.   Authorize City Manager to sign the Reimbursement Agreement with the KTA for the construction of a 6’ sidewalk on the N. Michigan Street bridge, west side.
