RE: |
Kaw Plant Telco System disposal
|
Project/Item Description.
The Utilities Department purchased a Rolm 9751-10 telephone system for the Kaw water treatment plant in 1992. Due to aging components and system limitations this Rolm system was replaced in 2006 with a new Siemens HiPath 3550 telephone system. The Utilities Department is requesting removal of the Rolm 9751 telco system.
Project Description/History.
The Rolm 9751-10 telephone system was purchased for the Kaw water treatment plant in December of 1992. This system has long been out of production and has virtually no resale value in today’s market. Since that system was replaced last year with a new Siemens HiPath, the Rolm system serves no use to the Kaw water plant.
Project/Purchase Status.
The majority of telephone equipment repairs for city-owned Rolm and Siemens teleco equipment is performed by local vendor R & R Communications. R & R Communications has agreed to remove the 9751-10 at no cost to the city and additionally would provide the city one free service call on any supported telephone equipment. There is also benefit to the city in that parts from the Kaw Plant Rolm system could be used by R & R Communications in supporting the 9751-10 systems still in use at City Hall and at the Law Enforcement Center.
Action Request.
Information Systems is requesting City Commission approval for R & R Communications to remove the Rolm 9751-10 equipment from the Kaw water plant at no cost to the City. Additionally R & R Communications will provide one free service call on any R & R supported telco equipment in use by the City.
