Pump Station Design/Build Project Complete
The design/build project to rehab and expand the pump station at 6th and Kentucky is completed ahead of schedule and with a $20,100 deduct in project cost. Originally scheduled for design/construction to begin in 2007, this project included the rehabilitation of the existing 8.0 million gallon per day (MGD) facility including the installation of increased pumping capacity to provide an 18.0 MGD facility to accommodate significant growth in the northwest area of the community. In 2005, staff recommended acceleration of the project as a response to rapid growth in the northwest area, as well as utilization of the design/build delivery system to expedite the project schedule. City Commission approval was obtained, and the design/build team of Burns & McDonnell/Garney LLC was contracted with to complete the project. The only change order for the recently completed project was a $20,100 deduction to establish the final project cost. This change order reflects value added decisions made and allocations unused during construction.
