SUBJECT:     Traffic Signal Renovations

For a number of years, the City has issued GO Bonds for traffic signal renovations.

This years allocation was set at $150,000.  It is recommended that those bonds now be issued for the following improvements:

1.      Replace existing deteriorating conduit and wiring at traffic signals on Massachusetts Street at 10th Street and 11th Street in conjunction with the waterline project this summer;

2.      Replace the existing city-owned and maintained high-mast street lighting on Massachusetts Street and 6th Street (the existing shoe-box fixtures are beginning to fail and are no longer available); and

3.      Upgrade the traffic signal at the intersection of 9th Street & Vermont Street in conjunction with the redevelopment of the Carnegie Library building.

4.      Installation of pedestrian crossing on 11th Street between New York Street  and New Jersey Street as approved by the City Commission on January 9, 2007 for the East Lawrence neighborhood.

If additional information is needed, please advise.
