SUBJECT:     Traffic Signal Renovations    

For a number of years, the City has issued GO Bonds for traffic signal renovations.

This years allocation was set at $150,000.  It is recommended that those bonds now be issued for the following improvements:

1. Replace existing deteriorating conduit and wiring at traffic signals on Massachusetts Street at 10^th Street and 11^th Street in conjunction with the waterline project this summer;

2. Replace the existing city-owned and maintained high-mast street lighting on Massachusetts Street and 6^th Street (the existing shoe-box fixtures are beginning to fail and are no longer available); and

3. Upgrade the traffic signal at the intersection of 9^th Street & Vermont Street in conjunction with the redevelopment of the Carnegie Library building.

4. Installation of pedestrian crossing on 11^th Street between New York Street  and New Jersey Street as approved by the City Commission on January 9, 2007 for the East Lawrence neighborhood.
