RE:

April 17, 2007 Consent Agenda Item

2007 KLINK Project

Resolution 6716

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the April 17, 2007 meeting:

Project Description.  The 2007 KLINK project includes the mill and overlay of Iowa Street from 6th Street to Harvard Road, and Irving Hill Road (overpass) to 23rd Street (Clinton Parkway).

Project Status. City staff prepares the KLINK plans annually.  The project will be bid in June for construction in July.

Project Details. Because Iowa Street is being resurfaced and restriped, staff is recommending the establishment of dual left-turn lanes from southbound Iowa to eastbound Clinton Parkway.  Sufficient room exists within the existing road surface by eliminating the painted island and reducing lane widths to 11 ft.

The entire intersection will not be milled and overlaid; ONLY the north leg will change.  Dual turn lanes on other legs of the intersection will be completed as maintenance or other projects in the area are scheduled/completed.

Project Funding.  Budgeted in CIP at $650,000.  State participates 50/50 up to a maximum of $200,000.

Action RequestedAdopt Resolution No. 6716 authorizing the issuance of general obligation bonds in the amount of $450,000 for the milling and overlay of Iowa Street, 6th Street to Harvard Road, and Irving Hill Road overpass to 23rd Street.  This amount has been funded in the Capital Improvement Budget.
