Members of the City Commission:

The Lawrence Arts Commission reviewed the proposed sign permit application No. 07-00200076 at its April 11, 2007, meeting. The commission voted to recommend that the City Commission approve the sign permit application as proposed by Cory O’Connor and the Lawrence Skateboarding Association to create a mural at the Centennial Park Skate Park as part of the Skate Jam event scheduled for April 21, 2007.

This recommendation is specific to this case and should not be considered precedent for future mural requests. The applicant did not submit the application to the Arts Commission in a timely manner, and several mural criteria were not fully followed; however, we do not wish to impede the presentation of this youth event.
