Re:

Purchase of Thermal Imaging Cameras

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the March 27, 2007 meeting:

Background:

As part of our 2007 Operating Budget we requested and received approval for the purchase of three additional Thermal Imaging Cameras in the amount of $30,000.  These cameras are used in several operational areas, including interior fire attack (searching for victims) and hazardous materials incidents (determining the level of liquid in tanks).  We are currently using MSA Thermal Image Cameras and request that we maintain the same style/manufacturer to ensure:

·  firefighter safety

·  one maintenance agreement

·  identical operation/training

Bid Status

The Fire Medical Department solicited bids (#B07012) for supplying the Department with three thermal imaging cameras.  The Notice to Bidders set out the specifications for the cameras and the quantity requested.  The Department received three bids from suppliers.  The submitted bids were reviewed and analyzed to determine the low bids for the responses meeting the Department’s specifications, all bids met specifications and the low bid was selected.
