Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the March 13, 2007 meeting:

Project DescriptionAs part of the Oregon Trail Addition the development is providing approximately 4.3 acres for the development of a park.  The park will contain a recreation path/trail, playground area, and a pond which will also serve for storm water detention.   An additional improvement contained in the benefit district includes an open channel for drainage. Both the Parks and Recreation Department and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board are supportive of this neighborhood park facility. 

Project Status/History.

Park Board approval of concept.

December 19, 2006

Concept of using a benefit district for park development introduced to City Commission.

February 6, 2007

City Commission establishes public hearing date.

February 27, 2007

City Commission established the benefit district (Resolution 6707).

 

Project Detail:  Landplan Engineering is recommended for the design of this project based upon their familiarity with the project (including Oregon Trail Addition), experience with design of these types of facilities, and schedule/coordination of improvements with other projects (street, sewer) within the Oregon Trail Addition.  The contract will include plans and specifications to city standards for the construction of the improvements described.  The park improvements will be approved by the Parks and Recreation Department and drainage improvements by the Stormwater Engineer. 

 

Project Funding.   The improvements, including project engineering, design, and inspection (provided by in-house staff), will be paid 100% by the benefit district established.

 

Action Requested.  Authorize City Manager to enter into an agreement with Landplan Engineering in the amount of $40,100 for professional engineering and landscape architectural services for the Oregon Trail Addition park.
