Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

WHEREAS:      In 2007, the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee is celebrating our twentieth year as an organization in Lawrence; and

 

WHEREAS:      The parade committee encompasses four basic themes:

 

First, to honor Irish Americans and their contributions to America;

 

Second, to celebrate the legend and spirit of St. Patrick through a fun, good old-fashioned parade;

 

Third, to promote an atmosphere of benevolence, friendship, and cooperation through the parade and other associated events;

 

Fourth, to support and exemplify the idea that charity and goodwill begins at home, benefiting your friends, neighbors, and the Lawrence community; and

 

WHEREAS:      This years’ parade will be dedicated to the participants of the last twenty years of the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade; and

 

WHEREAS:      The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is self-supporting, and depends solely on the resources of interested businesses and citizens who donate their time, talents, and good humor to sponsor worthwhile charitable causes on a yearly basis;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Saturday, March 17, 2007, for the day of the City of Lawrence’s

 

“TWENTIETH  ANNUAL SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE”

 

and congratulate all interested citizens of Lawrence and surrounding communities for participating in this event.
