Downtown Summit questions
|
During the January 23 Downtown Summit, two questions were asked that required further information. The questions and responses are provided below.
What is the parking meter revenue for Downtown?
City of Lawrence parking meter revenue:
2006: $374,191.27
2005: $286,117.17
2004: $244,477.77
This revenue includes both the $2.00 meter ticket revenue and parking complaint revenue. The increase in 2006 revenue is attributed to additional efforts to process parking complaints on every vehicle owner owing over $100 in meter fines.
What is the outcome of recent graffiti charges?
The City Prosecutor’s office reports that the two cases previously dismissed relating to the occurrence at 801 Massachusetts have been re-filed. Originally, the cases were dismissed because one of the three defendants admitted that he committed the offense, and the other two did not. The person who admitted to the conduct was given a diversion. The Prosecutor’s office reports that he qualified for a diversion and at the time, the Prosecutor’s office had not classified the charge as one that they would not divert. The persons involved in the last two occurrences also applied for and received diversions.
