Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:       The PIECE (Peer Involvement Enhancing Community Efforts) Project is a joint effort of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and Sunflower Bank to provide a leadership development program for Lawrence area youths; and

WHEREAS:       The program will be promoted to area students, with the selected youths spending one day per month during their ninth grade school year attending special sessions that will teach them about different facets of the local community, leadership skills, and how to become a more active member of the local community; and

WHEREAS:       At the end of the program, the participants will then be encouraged to get involved in a major community service project during their tenth gade year;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the week of Febraury 12 - 16 to be

“PIECE PROJECT WEEK”
