RE: |
14th and Tennessee Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project Consultant Selection – Project CS07-02
|
Please include the following item on the consent agenda for the February 6, 2007 City Commission meeting.
Execute an Engineering Services Agreement with BG Consultants, Inc. in the amount of $28,443.00 to design the 14th and Tennessee Sanitary Sewer Replacement project.
Project Description/History: Vitreous clay sanitary sewer beneath Tennessee Avenue in the area bounded by 14th Street and 16th Street is approximately fifty years old. The deteriorated sewer has caused a portion of the associated pavement to collapse and there have been numerous backups. Both the manholes’ current location in a parking lane and a length of sewer that changes direction without a manhole have caused difficulties for maintenance activities.
Project Status/ Details:
November/December 2006: The Utilities Department requested proposals and received responses from seven firms. BG Consultants; Delich, Roth, and Goodwillie (DRG); Landplan Engineering; Larkin Group; Professional Engineering Consultants; Peridian Group; and Wilson & Company have indicated an interest in the project.
January 2007: Staff has negotiated a contract with BG Consultants, Inc. to design the modifications. The need for contract construction inspection will be determined prior to bid and negotiated as an amendment to the services contract if appropriate.
We anticipate the following schedule for the remainder of the project:
Execute Engineering Agreement: February, 2007
Final Design Memorandum: April, 2007
Award Construction Contract: May, 2007
Complete Construction: August 1, 2007
Project Funding: Funding is through the Utilities Capital Improvement Program non-bonded funds.
Action Request. Action Request: Authorize the City Manager to enter into an Engineering Services Agreement with BG Consultants, Inc. in the amount of $28,443.00 to design the 14th and Tennessee Sanitary Sewer Replacement project.
