RE:	February 6, 2007 Agenda Item 23^rd & Harper Street Geometric Improvement Project Project No. 5-GI1-105(S) KDOT Project No. 10-23 KA-0134-01

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the February 6, 2007 meeting:

Project Description.

The improvements were recommended in the 2005 Safety Audit.  Improvements include the construction of a left-turn lane from northbound Harper to westbound 23^rd Street, including signal modifications.

Project Status.

The project is scheduled for construction in 2008, and is included in the CIP.  BG Consultants were selected as the engineering design firm.  Plans are at “field check” stage.

Project Funding.  The estimated total project cost is approximately $400,000.  The City Commission approved the funding of this project with Resolution 6609.  The project is an 80/20 funded project through KDOT’s Geometric Improvement Program.

Action Request.

Authorize the Mayor to execute Resolution No. 6700 for construction of Project No. 5-GI1-105(S) for the improvement of the 23^rd Street (K-10) and Harper Street intersection.
