Please place the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at their January 16, 2007 meeting:

Description:    Polymer for Kaw River Treatment Plant:

Aquamag K-5 corrosion inhibitor, a water treatment chemical, needs to be ordered for the Kaw River Water Treatment Plant.  This corrosion inhibitor is provided by only one vendor, at $ 0.5658 per pound (the same price as last year). 

Details: This product has been used at the Kaw River Water Treatment Plant as the primary corrosion inhibitor for the past 6 years.  This is the only corrosion inhibitor that has proven to work well in the treatment process at Kaw Water Plant.  We have met with a great deal of success using Aquamag K-5 during our semi-annual corrosion studies throughout the distribution system.

Funding: This purchase will be funded from the Kaw Treatment Plant’s chemical line item of the 2007-operating budget.

Action Request: Staff is requesting approval to issue a purchase order for the year 2007 to Waterwise Enterprises for $18,049.00 (includes freight) for 31,900 pounds of chemical.
