ONE (1) MINI PACKER REFUSE TRUCK – #B06062
Parks and Recreation Department requested bids for a mini packer refuse truck. It is to replace Unit 576, a 1995 truck that qualifies for replacement under the City’s guidelines. All of the bids from American Equipment do not meet the minimum specification of body floor thickness 1/4". The Wayne bodies bid all show an 11 gauge floor. This is a thickness of only 0.1196 not 0.250 as specified. This floor will not hold up over the life of the truck. It is our recommendation that the city approve the low bid from Roy Conley that meets the specifications. The Roy Conley bid included a trade in amount of $9,000.00. Presently there are no mini packer refuse trucks on ebay or Gov Deals although they do have some full size refuse trucks ranging from $9,000.00 to 11,000.00. This purchase was approved in the 2006 budgeting process.
