Fall Adult Sports Update
|
The Adult Sports Program, for the remaining months this fall, now consists of three sports, basketball, volleyball and dodge ball. Volleyball and basketball leagues have been around for a number of years but there were a few new twists for 2006. For a number of years, there was a lack of interest in the men’s power volleyball. During 2006 we were able to once again establish a men’s power league during the winter and spring sessions. Likewise, there has never been enough interest to form any women’s basketball leagues. However, this year we have been successful in finding enough teams to form a women’s basketball league for the spring, summer, and fall seasons of 2006. Plans are in place to begin offering a coed basketball league during the winter 2007 session.
Dodge ball is one of our new sports that we are now offering. We started men’s and coed leagues in 2005 and they have continued in 2006. We currently have four men’s and four coed teams playing in the session this fall.
Kickball is our other relatively new sport that we are now offering during the spring, summer, and fall. These leagues are all coed and they play on either Fridays or Sundays. This new sport seems to be thriving as the number of teams continues to grow. We had a total of 39 teams play during the three sessions in 2005 and that number grew to 48 teams in 2006.
