Recognition

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence and the Veterans of Foreign Wars call upon all citizens to observe November 11^th, 2006 as Veterans Day in honor of those who have served, and are serving, in the Armed Forces of the United States to preserve the principles of Justice, Freedom and Democracy; and

WHEREAS:  There are more than ninety current City employees who have served, or are currently serving, in the Armed Forces of the United States; and

WHEREAS:   We recognize the sacrifice and service these veterans and their families have made for our Country and community; and

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence will be recognizing these veterans by listing their names in the November issue of The Phoenix, the City Employee newsletter;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby urge all employers across the city to similarly recognize their employees who have served, or are serving, in the Armed Forces and ask all city employees to join me in honoring their service.
