AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS ANNEXING PROPERTY INTO THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS PURSUANT TO K.S.A. 12-519 ET SEQ.
WHEREAS, On September 12th 2006, the Governing Body of the City of Lawrence adopted Resolution No. 6682, requesting that the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners make certain findings pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520c; and
WHEREAS, On October 9, 2006, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners considered the annexation requested by the City of Lawrence in Resolution No. 6682 and adopted certain findings pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520c.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
Section 1: The Governing Body finds that the property in Section 2 of this ordinance qualifies for annexation pursuant to State law. The Governing Body further finds that Resolution No. 6682 requested that the Board of County Commissioners find and determine that the requested annexation not hinder or prevent the property growth and development of the area or that of any incorporated city located in Douglas County, all pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520(c). The Governing Body finds that the Board of County Commissioners made lawful findings pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520(c).
Section 2: The following described property is hereby annexed into and made part of the City of Lawrence, Kansas to-wit:
That part of the Northeast Quarter of Section 21, Township 12 South, Range 19 East of the Sixth Principal Meridian, Douglas County, Kansas, described as follows: Beginning at the Southeast Corner of said Northeast Quarter; thence along the south line of said Northeast Quarter on an assumed bearing of N89°43’55”W, 550.00 feet; thence parallel with the east line of said Northeast Quarter N00°31’19”E, 791.00 feet; thence parallel with the south line of said Northeast Quarter S89°43’55”E, 550.00 feet to the east line of said Northeast Quarter; thence along said east line S00°31’19”W, 791.00 feet to the point of beginning, except that part in existing road right-of-way.
Section 3: The city clerk shall file a certified copy of this ordinance with the County Clerk, and the Register of Deeds of Douglas County, Kansas
Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption and publication as provided by law.
