Dear Barry,

Please consider my request for a temporary permit for banners to be hung in conjunction with the upcoming October 6 live music event, Get Downtown. This request will complement Neighbor Resources’ earlier approval of the Inflatable Jayhawk on the rooftop of 800 Massachusetts.

I am asking the City Commission’s permission to hang two banners: one on the east side of the intersection of 8th Street and Massachusetts and the second at the alley entrance on 8th Street between Massachusetts and New Hampshire streets. Both banners would span across 8th Street.

The banner placed at the intersection of 8th and Massachusetts would use the stop light poles located on the northeast and southeast corners of 8th street and Massachusetts as anchors. I propose using Westar’s utility poles located on either side of 8th street at near both alley entrances. Westar officials have been contacted, and I have received their permission to use these poles.

The banners are 40 feet long and 4 feet wide. The banners are made of weather-resistant nylon mesh material designed to withstand the wind.
If this permit is approved, banners might be hung as early as Wednesday, September 27, to promote this free public event. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Bob Sanner
