Hodge made a report about the planned fundraiser for scholarships at Pachamama’s.  It will be September 28, 2006 at a cost of $35.00 per person or $50.00 per couple.  Hodge passed around lists of those we might want to invite to this event.  Board members reviewed the list.

Tsubaki and Kreicker will work on a membership event.

Ross reported that an initial payment was made to Jan Gaunmitz for $250 so she could get started with the two sculptures for Eutin and Hiratsuka.

Ross reported on the trip from Lawrence to San Lorenzo, Paraguay.  Kreicker had previously e-mailed out a more detailed report about the trip there this summer.  San Lorenzo is very interested in becoming a sister city with Lawrence.  The sub-committee for the third sister city will need to meet to discuss this possible relationship.

Ross shared the draft of the Policy for Funding Exchanges of Cultures.  Members are asked to e-mail Ross input.  The sub committee will meet and submit a revised draft back to the board.

Hilliard reported on the Hiratsuka trip.  She had some questions about reimbursement and thank yous to some members of the Friends of Hiratuka group for their donations to make the visit of the Japanese delegation to Lawrence much more enjoyable.  She was given reimbursement forms.

Tsubaki made an appeal to the Friends of Hiratsuka Committee that is to organize the Reception for the Delegates better and make sure that they are taken as a group to the Sister City Garden while they are in Lawrence. One other matter is to call the attention to the date of the Recital by Yukiko Iwasaki, Hiratsuka opera singer who will be visiting the Greater Kansas City Japan Festival and Lawrence afterwards in October. Her recital in Lawrence will be on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 pm in Swarthout Recital Hall, KU.  Her visit is partially financed by the LSCAB.

Kreicker moved and Immel seconded that we print and mail the Eutin newsletter in color at a cost of $478.00.  Motion passed.

Hyler shared a sample newsletter that might be used for Hiratsuka, Eutin and the Sister Cities Board.  Hyler volunteered to do three per year if text and pictures were provided and if one newsletter were done during the summer.

Bills paid $101.35 for meals for Hiratsuka chaperones ($55.45) and Eutin chaperones ($45.90).

$69.00 was paid to the City of Lawrence for a flag that was sent to Paraguay with the group from Lawrence this summer.

Hyler moved to adjorn.  Kreicker seconded.  Motion passed.
