To Whom It May Concern:

The LEO Center is preparing to host a fund raising and publicity event on Saturday, September 30, 2006 from 8:00 am until noon in the parking lot east of the Riverfront mall, accessed from 7th & New York.  The event is designed to generate awareness, create support and raise funding for the services we offer here, which include:

l        a full-service, immediate care medical facility for the uninsured.

l        a food pantry

l        financial benevolence

l        life skills counseling and training

l        crisis pregnancy support

This event, The LEO Center Family Fair, is planned to include a pancake breakfast, a silent auction, hot-air balloon rides, a moonwalk, and a visit from the fire department, including a fire truck and bike helmet giveaways.  KLWN and will be doing a live remote from the event.  The KU basketball team will be here to sign autographs.  There will be 4 live music acts.  Our medical team will be here offering free medical health screenings and a few limited services.  We'll be giving tours of the facility and telling the story of our namesake Leo Beuerman.

Although we've discussed the advantages of holding the Fair at a more visible location, one of the goals of this event is for people to find us and so that we can showcase our facility.  We've been given permission from the building owner, Dan Simons, to hold the event, and Neighborhood Resources has agreed to move their vehicles out of our shared parking lot for the weekend.  In no way will we be altering the parking lot in any permanent way.

We're hoping that the current approval process for this request could be amended to allow for our event.  Our original inquiry about permission for the event back in May (TUPUR at the time) led us to believe the process would be short and simple.

Please contact me if you need any further information.

Sincerely,
