ONE (1) LARGE-FORMAT DIGITAL REPROGRAPHIC/IMAGING MACHINE – B06040

The Public Works Department requested bids for a large-format digital reprographic/imaging machine to replace the KIP machine in the engineering/GIS area.  The KIP machine is a large format scan-to-file digital reprographics system that prints maps, drawings, and reproduces plans used by Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Planning, and the City Manager’s Office.  The new scanners are much faster and have tremendous technology advancements to enhance scanning and processing capabilities.  They can scan and run copies simultaneously allowing two employees to work on the same machine at the same time.  The low bid from Salina Blueprint does not meet the specifications.  They bid a machine that had a touchpad that is not adequate for software manipulation when a mouse and keyboard are required.  They also did not include a cassette tray as required in the specifications.  The bid from Drexel met all specifications.  This purchase was budgeted in the 2006 budgeting process.
