Project No. 32-AC1-604(BD) Access Management Improvements August 22, 2006 Agenda Item |
Please include the following item on the City Commission
consent agenda for consideration at the August 22, 2006 meeting:
Project
Description. This project was funded by the Kansas
Department of Transportation (KDOT) in 2004 as an Economic Development project
on
Project History.
A consultant, HNTB Corporation, was hired in October 2004 to design the
proposed improvements, using the
Project Status. Ten locations have been selected for access modifications which impacts 16 property owners. The final meeting with each of these properties will occur at the end of August to discuss the details of the access improvements and execution of public access easements for the affected properties. This project is scheduled to be bid by the State in January 2007.
Project Funding. This project was funded by KDOT as an Economic Development project with a maximum State participation of 75% of construction costs up to a maximum of $500,000. The City is responsible for the design and the remaining construction costs in excess of $500,000. The estimated construction cost, property acquisition, and utility relocation is $720,000 so the State would pay $500,000 and the City would be responsible for the remaining $220,000.
Resolution No. 6568 in the amount of $550,000 was adopted on October 5, 2004 to fund this project. The design contract with HNTB in the amount of $150,000 plus the City share of construction ($220,000) totals $370,000. It is not anticipated that there will be property acquisition costs or utility relocation costs so Resolution No. 6568 adequately funds this project.
Action Request. Adopt Resolution No. 6673 authorizing the Mayor to execute Economic Development Project Agreement No. 126-06 with the Kansas Department of Transportation, and authorize the Mayor to execute Agreement No. 126-06.
