CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
Week ending August 11, 2006
Solid Waste Division Deals with Increased Volume
For the past few weeks Solid
Waste crews have been handling an increased volume of trash due to move-ins and
move-outs coinciding with the beginning of the academic year and many lease
terms. This annual occurrence always
produces overflowing dumpsters as residents clean out rental units. On Monday, July 31, the regularly scheduled yard
waste pickup was suspended in order to devote more time to regular solid waste
pickup. The attached photos
are representative of some of the trash situations that Solid Waste crews
encountered.

Indoor Aquatic
Center Pool Painting
Underway
The pools at the Indoor Aquatic
Center require repainting
every 2-3 years. Annual maintenance at the facility is scheduled during August
so that one of the two major swimming pools is always available for use. The
attached photos
at the Indoor Aquatic Center
show both of the pools after being drained and sand blasted, prior to
repainting. It is anticipated that most of the painting will be completed this
week. Parks and Recreation will then be filling and balancing the pool,
checking pump and heater operations and detail cleaning around the pool decks.
The facility is scheduled to reopen on Monday August 21st.
