and Pennsylvania
Redevelopment

A protest petition has been submitted for the above-referenced 8th
and Pennsylvania
rezoning application. The petition is not valid, with 10.3% of property owners
within the 200-foot required notification area submitting valid signatures. A
protest petition is considered valid with petition submittals from a minimum of
20% of property owners within the 200-foot required notification area. Therefore,
as the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Commission voted to
recommend approval of the rezoning request with an 8-1 vote on 3/15/06, the City
Commission may approve the rezoning request with a majority vote.
