Electrical and Plumbing Codes Reviewed by Advisory Boards

The Board of Plumbers and Gas Fitter Appeals met on Wed., July 12, 2006 to review a draft ordinance adopting the Uniform Plumbing Code, 2003 Edition, with amendments.  The Board of Electrical Appeals plans to meet the week of July 17, 2006 to review a draft ordinance adopting the National Electrical Code, 2005 Edition, with amendments.  After the advisory boards review the draft ordinances, they will be forwarded to the City Commission with recommendations. 

 

Health Department Mosquito Control Methods

The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department uses larvicides to kill mosquito young in their breeding habitats before they reach maturity.  The attached fact sheets on Bti and Methoprene explain their uses, toxicity ratings, and risks to humans and the environment. 

 

Impact of Asphalt Oil Availability on Streets Projects

Conditions on the Missouri River are disrupting shipments of asphalt oil from the ConocoPhilips refinery in East St. Louis (see attached correspondence from LRM Industries).  The Public Works Department is analyzing the impact of the disruption on our current and future projects.
