The sculpture was designed by Jan Gaumnitz, with Jonah Seibel doing the fabrication and finishing. Schumm moved that we ask the City Commission to pay for one sculpture, one base, crating, shipping and insurance to present to Eutin on their 750th birthday. Kreicker and Ross will get an estimate from the on a base cost, crating, and shipping. Boley seconded. Motion passed.

Tsubaki provided a copy of the original handbook for our Board and list of the chairperson of the LSCAB. These included the following:
1987-1991 Carol Shankel
1992-1995 George Woodyard
1996-1997 Faye Watson
1998 Randy Weseman
1999 Ngondi Kamatuka
2000-2001 Bob Schumm
2002-2003 Kathleen Hodge
2004-2005 Graham Kreicker
2006 Gina Ross
The handbook showed that in 1989 the Sister City agreement with Eutin was signed and in 1990 the Sister City agreement with Hiratsuka was signed.
Holladay made a presentation about the coming trip to Hiratsuka in June 21 – July 1. This year’s tickets were $1,311 each; this is up $250 from last year which was up about $200 from the previous year. Eighteen students (12 girls and 6 boys; 11 junior high students and 7 high school student) and four adults will be going. Eighteen students from Hiratsuka will be in Lawrence July 25 to August 3.
Baron made a proposal to send Kari Paludan, an opera singer and Lawrence native now living in the DC area, to Eutin, along with Melanie Hadley, a KU graduate student to accompany her on the piano. They would visit the Eutin schools to present classes in addition to actual recitals. The total cost to the Board will be about $2,500. We will discuss this proposal next month.
Schumm reported on our upcoming appetizer and wine fundraiser at Pachamama’s. We would like to have two scholarship students attend the fundraiser and talk about their experience while visiting Eutin and Hiratsuka. Holladay will find a student who has taken part in the Hiratsuka exchange program. Ross will find a student who has taken part on the Eutin exchange program.
At 6:55 PM Boley moved we adjourned. Schumm seconded. Passed
