Proclamation

WHEREAS:   Douglas County Citizen Review Board (CRB) was founded in 1986 by the Honorable Jean F. Shepherd to gain a fresh outlook on juvenile cases and provide community input; and

 

WHEREAS:   The Citizen Review Board volunteers assist the juvenile court by reviewing cases involving children in need of care or juvenile offenders; and

 

WHEREAS:   The Douglas County Citizen Review Board was utilized for a model for the state of Kansas and prompted passage of legislation authorizing CRB programs statewide; and

 

WHEREAS:   Citizen Review Board volunteers encourage community awareness and help to offer solutions; and

 

WHEREAS:   Douglas County Citizen Review Board is celebrating its 20th anniversary;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim June 25 – July 1 as

 

“CITIZEN REVIEW BOARD WEEK”
