RESOLUTION NO. 6657

A RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT ON CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY CONDITIONS EXIST WHICH CONSTITUTE A BLIGHT UPON THE NEIGHBORHOOD, DIRECTING THAT THE OWNER OF THE PROPERTY ABATE SUCH CONDITIONS, FIXING A REASONABLE TIME WITHIN WHICH SUCH CONDITIONS SHALL BE ABATED, AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC OFFICER TO ABATE SUCH CONDITIONS IN THE EVENT THE OWNER FAILS TO DO SO WITHIN THE STATED TIME PERIOD, AND PROVIDING THAT THE COSTS AND EXPENSES OF ABATEMENT INCURRED BY THE PUBLIC OFFICER BE ASSESSED IN THE MANNER PROVIDED BY LAW, ALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISION OF CHAPTER IX, ARTICLE 6 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2003.

WHEREAS:  Pursuant to the provisions of the Environmental Code, Chapter IX, Article 6, of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2003, the public officer has determined that certain conditions constituting a blight upon the neighborhood exist upon the following described property, to-wit:

MEADOWBROOK BLK 3 E 35 FT OF LT 21 & W 13.5 FT OF LT 22 ALSODESC AS:BEG AT A PT ON NLY LINE UNIVERSITY DR,SD PT BEING 45FT NELY OF SWLY COR LT 21 BLK 3;TH NELY ALONG SD NLY LINE UNIVERSITY DR 35 FT TO SWLY COR LT 22 TH CONT NELY ALONG SD NLY LINE UNIVERSITY DR 13.5 FT TH NWLY PARA TO LINE DIVIDING LTS 21 & 22 150 FT TO NWLY LINELT 22 TH SWLY ALONG SD LINE 13.5 FT TO NWLY COR SD LT 22 TH CONT ALONG SD LINE 35 FT TH SELY 150 FT TO PT BEG, commonly known as 2710 University Drive

WHEREAS:  The owner of the above described property has been notified of the existence of such conditions in the manner provided by Section 9-607 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2003.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

1.   That the conditions existing upon the described property constitute a blight upon the neighborhood.

2.   That the owner of the above described property or his agent shall abate such conditions within twenty (20) days after the date of this resolution.

3.   That if the owner of the above described property fails to abate such conditions within the stated time period, the public officer shall abate such conditions and assess the costs and expenses incurred in the manner provided by Section 9-613 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2003.

4.   That a copy of this resolution be served upon the owner of the above described property in the manner provided by Section 9-609 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2003.

ADOPTED by the Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, this  27^th  day of June, 2006.
