June 13, 2006 Agenda Item |
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the June 13, 2006 meeting:
Bid for Police Uniforms, Equipment, and Supplies
This is a bid for: police, parking control, and animal control uniform clothing; police uniform outerwear; ballistic vests; arms and ammunition; police duty gear and accessories; and badges and insignia.
Bid History. On May 11, 2006, the Police Department solicited bids for supplying the Department with uniforms, equipment, and supplies for the period July1, 2006 to June 30, 2007. The Notice to Bidders set out the specifications for all of the items covered and included the estimated quantities required to supply new recruits and for replacements as needed for current officers. Requests were sent to the City’s list of vendors for these types of items, and the notice to bidders was posted on the Onvia DemandStar website. The bid opening was at 2:00 PM on June 6, 2006. The Department received ten bids from various suppliers as indicated on the attached bid tabulation.
Bid Status. The submitted bids were reviewed and analyzed to determine the low bids for the responses meeting the Department’s specifications. In some cases, responses included lower bids for items not meeting specifications. The Department’s specifications are based on established standards of brand quality and appearance. There are a number of suppliers that carry the specified brands, resulting in competitive prices for all items.
Bid Details. The bid details are set out in the attached bid tabulation.
Bid Funding. The bid award will be funded from the 2006 Police Department Operating Budget.
Action Request.
