Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:       The Ranger Battalions Association of World War II is hosting its national reunion at Lawrence, Kansas; and

WHEREAS:       The men and families of men who served as a U.S. Army Ranger in World War II have been holding national reunions continually since 1949; and

WHEREAS:       The Sons and Daughters of World War II Rangers was created to assist in reunion events and to continue the legacy of pride, selfless volunteerism, and service of the World War II Army Rangers to all Americans; and

WHEREAS:       2006 marks the 61^st anniversary of VE - Day and VJ – Day and the end of the Second World War; and

WHEREAS:       The Ranger Battalions Association of World War II wishes to honor all US Army Rangers from all military conflicts;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim June 7 – 11 as

“WORLD WAR II ARMY RANGER DAYS”

.in Lawrence and I encourage all residents to recognize the World War II Army Rangers and their honorable contributions to our freedom and security.
