Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The health, safety, and comfort of the citizens of Lawrence is dependent upon quality municipal service; and

WHEREAS:   The health and fitness of City employees has a profound effect upon their ability to do quality work; and

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence Health Activities Management Program (CHAMP) was formed to promote health and fitness among City employees; and

WHEREAS:   The City urges other employers in the community to join us and take proactive steps toward better employee health and fitness;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, May 17, 2006, to be observed as

“NATIONAL EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND FITNESS DAY”

and call upon all employers and citizens of Lawrence to take proactive steps to promote activities that will improve employee health and fitness.
