RE:

Selection of Consulting Firm to Complete Coordinated Public Transportation Development Plan

The Study Management Team comprised of ten individuals representing both the City of Lawrence and University of Kansas evaluated eight proposals received and recommend the selection of Dan Boyle & Associates, Inc. based in San Diego, CA to complete the Coordinated Public Transportation Development Plan that explores the feasibility of coordinating and/or consolidating City and University transit services.  At this time we are seeking City Manager and City Commission consent on the selection of this firm and on the final contract amount not to exceed $159,029.

The funding for this project completion will come from three sources: the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), University of Kansas, and the City of Lawrence Transit System.  A KDOT grant will fund approximately $60,000 of the project cost.  The balance will be equally split between the University and City.  The Transit Department will utilize a portion of available FY2005 Comprehensive Transportation Program (CTP) funding it has received from the State of Kansas to fund the City’s share for the project.  The City’s share for this project will not exceed $49,515.
