ONE SKID STEER LOADER, BID #B06019

The Public Works Department requested bids for a skid steer loader.  It is to be used by the Street Division and will replace unit 382, a 1998 Bobcat, which qualifies for replacement under our equipment replacement schedule.  The equipment replacement schedule is based on age, mileage, hours of use, and cost of maintenance and upkeep.  The bid included a trade for unit 382 in the amount of $13,000.00.  Presently there are no Bobcats listed on GovDeals and ebay has several listed for sale but only two have bids, one $6,600.00 and the other is $8,600.00 both still with bidding time left.  We also looked for Bobcat prices on Machinery Trader, an internet site that sells construction equipment.  The asking price on this site ranges from $8000.00 to $16,000.00.  This purchase was budgeted in the 2006 budgeting process.

Recommendation Action: 

Approve bid from KC Bobcat for one (1) Bobcat in the amount of $31,864.60 less $13,000.00 trade, total price $18,864.62.  (Public Works/Street Maintenance)
