RE:	Possession and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages at Eagle Bend for Lawrence Chamber of Commerce Start Here Golf Tournament

The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce is presenting a “Start Here” Golf Tournament to promote local businesses at Eagle Bend Golf Course on May 5, 2006.  Event organizers are requesting City approval for attendees to possess and consume alcoholic beverages on the course and in a designated area for a BBQ and awards party following the tournament.  A portion of the proceeds from a putting contest and mulligan purchase will benefit the Chamber’s LEAP partner, Central Junior High School. 

While Eagle Bend has a Cereal Malt Beverage license, the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages at the golf course is prohibited, therefore an ordinance allowing the temporary possession and consumption is required.  I have attached a copy of Ordinance 7989 for the Commission’s consideration.  This ordinance allows the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages from 12 noon to 8:00 pm on the day of the event.
