FROM:  James W. Grauerholz

TO:   Lawrence City Commissioners.

Please find attached two documents submitted for your attention, and for the March 28 City Commission Agenda supporting materials:

• My open letter tto you oday, concerning the rezoning initiation recommended by the Burroughs Creek Corridor Plan for the 800 Lynn Street block.

• My spreadsheet studying Lawrence and 13 other comparable cities in Kansas and Missouri, examining the distances of Salvation Army facilities in those cities from the Central Business District -- with specific reference only to facilities that offer "food & nutrition" (Soup Kitchen) and/or "emergency assistance" (Transient Shelter).  Residential-rehabilitation programs are not studied.

Two sites in Columbia MO are shown, and in Lawrence, Salvation Army's present location and the proposed relocation are shown -- a total of 16 sites studied.  ALL are within, or right next to, the CBD ... except the 800 Lynn St. location.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Respectfully,

James Grauerholz
