ORDINANCE NO. 7783
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, ANNEXING PROPERTY PURSUANT TO K.S.A. 12-520 ET SEQ.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
SECTION I. The governing body finds that the tract of property described in Section II of this ordinance, hereby incorporated by reference as if fully described, adjoins the boundaries of the City of Lawrence, Kansas. The governing body further finds that the owners of the tract of property described in Section II have submitted a petition consenting to the annexation of the tract of property into the City of Lawrence, Kansas. The property is generally located south of K-10 Highway between O’Connell Road and Franklin Road. The Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission recommended annexation of said property on March 17, 2004. The City Commission voted to approve the annexation on April 13, 2004.
SECTION II. The following described tract of property is hereby annexed into the City of Lawrence, Kansas pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520 et seq., to-wit:
The northwest quarter of Section 9, Township 13 South, Range 20 East in Douglas County, Kansas, except the east half of the northeast quarter of said northwest quarter and except the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of said northwest quarter and more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the northwest corner of said Section 9; thence north 88º53'29" east, along the north line of said northwest quarter, a distance of 2010.25 feet to the northeast corner of the west half of the northeast quarter of said northwest quarter; thence south 01º31'40" east, along the east line of the west half of the northeast quarter of said northwest quarter, a distance of 1320.09 feet to the southeast corner thereof; thence north 88º52'56" east, along the north line of the southeast quarter of said northwest quarter, a distance of 669.13 feet to the northeast corner thereof; thence south 01º31'34" east, along the east line of the southeast quarter of said northwest quarter, a distance of 1319.07 feet to the southeast corner thereof; thence south 88º51'12" west, along the south line of said northwest quarter, a distance of 2006.49 feet to the southeast corner of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of said northwest quarter; thence north 01º35'31" west, along the east line of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of said northwest quarter, a distance of 660.06 feet to the northeast corner thereof; thence south 88º52'08" west, along the north line of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of said northwest quarter, a distance of 669.14 feet to the northwest corner thereof; thence north 01º37'18" west, along the west line of the southwest quarter of said northwest quarter a distance of 660.21 feet to the northwest corner thereof; thence north 01º36'53" west, along the west line of the northwest quarter of said northwest quarter, a distance of 1320.42 feet to the point of beginning. Containing 5,743,186 square feet or 131.8454 acres, more or less.
SECTION III. That the Zoning Districts Map incorporated by reference in and by Chapter 20, Article 5, Section 501, of the “Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2003,” be and the same is hereby amended by showing and reflecting thereon the new zoning district classification for the aforesaid tract, as set forth in Section II of this ordinance.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
