UTILITY SERVICE TRUCK WITH CRANE – UTILITIES DEPARTMENT – #B06008

Utilities Department requested bids for a service truck with a crane.  The new unit will be used for the Wastewater Treatment Plant and wastewater lift station maintenance and repair; it will also be used to transport the large generator to respond to lift station power outages.  The truck is to replace Unit 272 as recommended by Central Maintenance due to age, mileage and repair costs.  The low bid from KCR International Trucks doesn’t meet the crane specifications or tool box specifications.  The crane won’t pick up the required 3,500 lbs. at 16 feet extension and the tool boxes are smaller than required.  This purchase was approved in the 2006 budgeting process.
