On February 28, 2006, the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following:  

Bid#06010 –  One (1) Hook Lift Refuse Truck – Public Works Department

Solid Waste requested bids for a hook lift truck.  Solid Waste equipment is replaced according to our equipment replacement schedule.  The equipment replacement schedule is based on age, mileage, hours of use, and cost of maintenance and upkeep.  We also request 4 options, right hand remote mirror, 5 year transmission warranty, Transynd oil (required with the 5 year warranty), and the manuals.  The options total $1,682.00 making the truck total $55,682.00  The winning bid included a trade in amount of $20,000.00, the other two bidding companies offered $15,000.00 & $8,500.00.  Presently there is only one hook lift truck being sold on ebay and the high bid is $11,211.00.  This purchase was approved in the 2006 budgeting process.
