Breathing Air Compressor
|
Background:
As you recall we received approval for the purchase of a Breathing Air Compressor in FY 2006 budget to be installed at Station No. 4.
On November 29, 2005 the City of Lawrence received four bids for a Breathing Air Compressor for Station No. 5. After review of the accepted bids the following manufacturers meet the bid specification as requested in the bid document. Allan Landis has indicated that it is acceptable to ask the low bidder if they would extend the November 2005 because it has only been three months, the bid pricing toward this purchase. Mr. Dennis Meyers of Conrad Fire Equipment has agreed to sell the same unit at $41,235.80.

Besides the base price of the breathing air compressor we are requesting options including a carbon monoxide monitor with calibration kit, maintenance timer, and dual pressure cylinder refill station. The options have been added to the above total bid. The funding was authorized out of the Equipment Reserve Fund.
Recommendation:
The bid document submitted on November 29, 2005 by Conrad Fire Equipment, Inc. is acceptable to the department, and as you can see the pricing is competitive and is the lowest bid. We recommend the City purchase of One (1) Breathing Air Compressor to Conrad Fire Equipment, Inc in the amount of $41,235.80.
