Dear City Commissioners:

The Lawrence Sports Corporation, a non-profit subsidiary of the Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau, totally supports the PLAY initiative and encourages the Lawrence Community to enthusiastically support it as well. The availability of athletic venues for the Lawrence Community is woefully inadequate and needs to be addressed immediately. The Lawrence Sports Corporation also hopes that once the PLAY initiative comes to fruition, future facilities will keep the mission of the Lawrence Sports Corporation in mind, and allow this organization the ability to attract state, regional and national events to Lawrence. The ability of the Lawrence Sports Corporation to attract events to Lawrence creates a positive impact on the Lawrence economy while contributing to the local tax base. The Lawrence Sports Corporation encourages the Lawrence community to accept this challenge and allow the PLAY organizers to create an athletic complex that would contribute to the Lawrence tax base and put Lawrence in the forefront in attracting events, while providing our local youth great opportunities.
