Facility Assessment Report
|
Attached please find a Facility Assessment Report that staff has developed to assist the City Commission in their review of the Partners for Lawrence Athletics & Youth (PLAY) proposal that is a topic on the February 8, 2006 study session agenda.
As you know, the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is committed to the youth of this community and will continue our history of providing quality programming for the development of skills, sportsmanship, communication, and teamwork. Our program and facility emphasis has been on recreational, not high school level competitive venues.
The Department will also continue to encourage partnerships with the County, USD 497, and the private sector to be both efficient and effective with public monies. It is also important to keep in mind Parks and Recreation looks at the multi-use of a facility rather than the one-sport facility usage perspective.
We would ask that the governing body keep this information in mind, along with the information provided in the attached Report as they review the objectives of PLAY.
