Last August the City of Lawrence began working on a joint bid and cooperative purchasing agreement through Mid-America Council of Public Purchasing (MACPP) for 2006 vehicles. There were fourteen other government entities besides Lawrence working on the bid including Douglas County and entities in the Kansas City area belonging to MACPP. This year the City of Overland Park headed the bidding process and the bids were approved by the Overland Park City Council on October 17, 2005. Ten vendors bid on 57 different vehicles.
The Police Department/Animal Control Division is requesting to purchase an E250 cab and chassis. An animal conversion body will be mounted on the vehicle. The last remaining Animal Control truck is badly in need of replacement due to high mileage, maintenance costs and the difficulty in use such as loading larger animals. This vehicle is budgeted in the 2006 budgeting process.
Recommendation Action:
Approve purchase from Shawnee Mission Ford off the MACPP cooperative bid for one E250 in the amount of $17,504.00. (Police Department/Animal Control)
