HRC RESOLUTION NO.  2005-03

 

RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE DESIGNATION OF THE “FIRE STATION #2,” LOCATED AT 1839 MASSACHUSETTS STREET (BABCOCK’S ENLARGED ADD BLK 17 N 40 FT LT 19 & S 7 FT LT 20), LAWRENCE, DOUGLAS COUNTY, KANSAS, TO THE LAWRENCE REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LAWRENCE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:

 

WHEREAS, Chapter 22, The Conservation of Historic Resources Code, in the Lawrence City Code establishes the procedures for the review and evaluation of Landmark nominations to the Lawrence Register of Historic Places; and, the procedures for forwarding said recommendations to the City Commission with a report;

 

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 22-404.2(a), the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission conducted a public hearing on November 17, 2005 to consider the proposed nomination of Fire Station #2, 1839 Massachusetts Street, as a Landmark to the Lawrence Register of Historic Places;

 

WHEREAS, the proposed nomination has been supported by the owner of record, The City of Lawrence; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission has determined that the proposed landmark qualifies for nomination in accordance with criteria #1 and #4 of Section 22-403(a) of The Conservation of Historic Resources Code;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission that it does hereby recommend designation of Fire Station #2, 1839 Massachusetts Street, as a Landmark on the Lawrence Register of Historic Places.
