RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE DESIGNATION OF “HOBBS PARK,” LOCATED AT 702 E 11TH STREET (EARL’S ADDITION W 100 FT OF E ˝ BLK 1; ALSO DEG 350 FT E & 290 FT N OF INTERSEC CL PENN ST 7 QUINCY ST TH E 250 FT N 350 FT W 250 FT S 350 FT TO BEG; ALSO BEG 350 FT E & 40 FT N OF INTERSEC CL PENN ST & QUINCY ST THN 250 FT E 250 FT S 250 FT W 250 FT TO B), LAWRENCE, DOUGLAS COUNTY, KANSAS, TO THE LAWRENCE REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LAWRENCE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Chapter 22, The Conservation of Historic Resources Code, in the Lawrence City Code establishes the procedures for the review and evaluation of Landmark nominations to the Lawrence Register of Historic Places; and, the procedures for forwarding said recommendations to the City Commission with a report;
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 22-404.2(a), the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission conducted a public hearing on November 17, 2005 to consider the proposed nomination of Hobbs Park, 702 W 11th Street, as a Landmark to the Lawrence Register of Historic Places;
WHEREAS, the proposed nomination has been supported by the owner of record, The City of Lawrence; and,
WHEREAS, the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission has determined that the proposed landmark qualifies for nomination in accordance with criteria #1, 2, and 3 of Section 22-403(a) of The Conservation of Historic Resources Code;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission that it does hereby recommend designation of Hobbs Park, 702 W 11th Street, as a Landmark on the Lawrence Register of Historic Places.
ADOPTED by the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission on this 17th day of November 2005.
