Fire/Medical Department is requesting to purchase a Ford 500.  This is a full size sedan with all wheel drive and we are requesting this particular vehicle in an attempt to down size from an SUV.  We feel purchasing this vehicle will save on not only the original cost of the vehicle but will also save on gasoline expense.  We can utilize a Johnson County Community College bid for this vehicle.  It is to replace a van with high mileage and maintenance costs that meets the City of Lawrence criteria for replacement.  This vehicle purchase was approved in the Department’s 2006 budget request. 

Recommendation Action:

Approve purchase of one (1) Ford 500 from Shawnee Mission Ford in the amount of $21,187.00 (Fire/Medical)
